Where the van goes

Four towns along the Charles, and the roads between them

Dover, Sherborn, Medfield and Westwood sit in a tight loop either side of the river, which is the practical reason this is the whole service area rather than a longer list. Long driveways and two-acre lots mean an address is often a five-minute crawl off the road, so the day is planned around a small map instead of a wide one.

The four towns, and what their kitchens are like

Four towns is the whole map. Each one is written up on its own page, because a two-acre lot in Sherborn and a village-centre gut in Medfield are not the same call.

    Sherborn

    Sherborn holds two-acre zoning and virtually no commercial strip, so the housing runs to antique colonials and shingled custom homes set well back in the trees. Renovated kitchens often sit at the rear of the house with a butler's pantry or a second undercounter unit off to one side.

    Medfield

    Medfield pairs a compact village centre of 19th-century houses with post-war and 1990s subdivisions out toward the Charles. Kitchen work in the older centre houses tends to be a full gut with integrated refrigeration and tight galley clearances on either side.

    Dover

    Dover is large-lot country: long driveways, older farmhouses and newer custom builds spread thinly along the Charles. Kitchens are big and frequently carry a second refrigeration unit in a pantry or mudroom.

    Westwood

    Westwood mixes Islington's older village housing with wooded subdivisions off High Street. The newer kitchens are open-plan with island seating, and refrigeration is nearly always integrated behind cabinet panels.

Sub-Zero only, and nothing pretending otherwise

Sub-Zero built-ins are unusual among domestic appliances in that the sealed system, the airflow design and the control logic all expect to be looked at as one machine. A dual-compressor column that reads warm on the fresh food side is rarely a fresh food fault, and a unit that ices its evaporator every fortnight is telling you about a defrost circuit or a door, not about the compressor.

That is the reason this site covers one manufacturer and four towns rather than every appliance in eastern Massachusetts. It also means being straight about what we are not: an independent service business, not affiliated with Sub-Zero, and not the route for anything still covered by the manufacturer.
