Wolf Range Igniter Keeps Clicking
If your Wolf range igniter keeps clicking even after the burner has lit, or will not stop clicking when all burners are off, you are not alone. This is one of the most common issues we see with gas ranges.
Understanding the Ignition System
Wolf gas ranges use an electronic ignition system. When you turn a burner knob, it opens the gas valve and activates the spark igniter. Once the burner lights, a sensor detects the flame and stops the clicking.
Why the Igniter Will Not Stop Clicking
1. Moisture in the Burner Assembly
The most common cause is moisture around the burner or igniter from boiling over, cleaning with too much water, or high humidity.
Solution: Let the burner area dry completely. Use a hair dryer on low heat to speed up drying.
2. Food Debris Around the Igniter
Spilled food, grease, or debris can interfere with the igniter or burner operation.
Solution: Clean around the igniter with a soft brush and remove debris from burner ports.
3. Misaligned Burner Cap
If the burner cap is not seated correctly, the flame may not reach the sensor.
Solution: Remove and reseat the burner cap, ensuring it sits flat and centered.
4. Faulty Spark Module
The spark module controls all igniters. If failing, it may send continuous signals.
Solution: This requires professional replacement.
Safety Considerations
If you smell gas or the clicking is accompanied by a gas odor, do not use the range, ventilate the area, and call for professional service immediately.
When to Call for Service
Contact a certified Wolf technician if cleaning does not resolve the issue, you see physical damage to components, or there is a gas odor.
