Electric Dryer No Heat

Check the Basics First

Power Supply:

  • Electric dryers need 240V
  • Partially tripped breaker may allow tumbling but not heating
  • Reset both breaker halves
  • Thermal Fuse:

  • Safety device that blows if dryer overheats
  • Common cause of no heat
  • Located near exhaust duct
  • Must be replaced if blown
  • Heating Element:

  • Coils can break over time
  • Element may partially fail
  • Replacement is common repair
  • Lint and Airflow

  • Clogged lint trap
  • Blocked exhaust duct
  • Crushed vent hose
  • Gas Dryer No Heat

    Gas-Specific Checks

    Gas Supply:
